What You Need to Know About ISO 45001
Safety and health experts from around the globe came together in 2018 with the development of what is being called the “gold standard” in safety and health management. This new ISO 45001 standard will allow companies to significantly reduce workplace injuries and illnesses, dramatically improve employee productivity and quality, and lead to increased profitability. ISO 45001 is the new international consensus and certification standard for occupational health and safety management. ISO 45001 provides a framework to significantly improve organizational safety and health performance through a risk management system utilizing the concept of plan–do–check–act–complete.
More than 70 countries participated in the development of this standard. It integrates with existing ISO management systems standards, such as the latest versions of ISO 9001 (quality management) and ISO 14001 (environmental management).
Businesses with existing ISO standards in place will have an advantage in obtaining ISO 45001 certification; however, as with any certification, the process and required detail can be complicated and costly if not handled correctly. This is one of the reasons that Fisher Phillips Safety Solutions was founded.
Our goal is to assist companies seeking ISO 45001 certification with a thorough, yet cost-efficient plan. We accomplish this through the use of our Gap Assessment Tool, Elimination of the Gaps, and Guidance through the ISO 45001 Certification Process.
The benefits of ISO certification are numerous; however some of the most common reasons you may choose to obtain this milestone are positive effects on corporate culture, cost savings initiatives, improve productivity and quality, as well as enhanced public image.
